Understanding Ethical Audits: Compliance with ETI Base Code

Who needs a HACCP Refresher Course?

A HACCP Refresher course is recommended for anyone who attained a Level 3 or Level 4 HACCP qualification 3 or more years ago, but especially managers and supervisors working within the food industry.

As the name suggests, the training is designed to refresh delegates’ knowledge of HACCP principles and methodology. However, this course goes further than this to provide information on current issues and legislation. It also highlights the HACCP requirements of the latest BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety.

What does the training cover?

The training combines content from our 2-day Level 3 HACCP and 4-day Level 4 HACCP course with up-to-date information around legislation and HACCP issues. The resultant 1-day course meets the requirements of HACCP refresher training required by BRCGS auditors and other third-party auditors.

The course programme follows the entire journey from outlining the importance of food safety, the role and benefits of HACCP and legal obligations through to designing, validating, implementing and monitoring a HACCP plan. There are exercises throughout to cement knowledge and discussion is encouraged throughout the day.

Training delivered by HACCP experts

This refresher course is delivered by Verner Wheelock trainers who are HACCP experts. They have also spent several years in senior positions within the food industry prior to becoming trainers. This means they are able to enhance the training with real-life examples and make the training relatable to delegates’ different operations. In turn delegates are encouraged to ask questions of the trainer.

Proof of training

There is no examination attached to the HACCP Refresher course. Instead all delegates attending will receive a Verner Wheelock Certificate of Attendance. This certificate is sufficient to satisfy auditors that the learner’s knowledge of HACCP principles and methodology are up to date and that they are committed to producing safe food within their company.

When and where does the course take place?

The latest HACCP Refresher course dates can be found on Verner Wheelock’s website www.vwa.co.uk The course may be attended face-to-face at our training centre in Skipton, North Yorkshire, a short walk from the rail and bus stations. Alternatively delegates may attend remotely via Zoom. This is a good option for those who live a significant distance away.

The courses begin promptly at 9.30am and finish at around 4.30pm each day.

For those attending in person lunch, and refreshments are included in the course fee. A course binder containing notes is provided for all delegates.

What other refresher courses are available?

The HACCP Refresher course is not the only refresher course offered by Verner Wheelock. The Auditing Refresher course is endorsed by FDQ and covers a broad overview of auditing and any relevant new information on current auditing practices relating to the food industry. It is suitable for anyone who completed an Auditing Skills or Lead Auditor course 3 or more years ago.

Additionally the Verner Wheelock Food Safety Update course provides information on recent changes to legislation, the Food Standard Agency’s campaigns and strategies, food safety management and HACCP. Again, this is ideal for anyone who completed a Level 3 or 4 food safety qualification 3 or more years ago.
