If you have 5 or more staff to train, an in-house course can be the most cost-effective way to do it.
‘In-house’ means that only staff from your company will attend the training course. This is in contrast to our open courses where delegates from several different companies attend the same course.
We offer all our HACCP, Food Safety, Auditing and Specialist courses as in-house courses. As always, they are delivered by trainers with considerable experience of working within the food industry.
5 facts about our in-house courses
1. In-house courses are tailored to your business
VWA in-house training isn’t off-the-shelf. Content can be adapted to reflect your products, processes, risks, and audit requirements, making the training immediately relevant and practical for your team.
2. Training can be delivered around your operational needs
Courses can be scheduled to fit your shift patterns, production schedules, and availability, reducing disruption and downtime compared to sending staff off-site.
3. They’re often more cost-effective for larger teams
When training multiple team members, in-house courses can offer better value per delegate than open courses, while ensuring consistent messaging across the whole team.
4. Learning is more relevant — and more engaging
Because examples and discussions are based on your real working environment, delegates are often more engaged and confident applying what they’ve learned straight away.
5. In-house training supports long-term compliance
Beyond meeting immediate training requirements, in-house courses help build internal competence, supporting ongoing compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement.
Common Myths About in-House Training (And the Reality)
Myth 1: “In-house training is only for large companies”
In reality, in-house courses are used by businesses of all sizes. If you have several people needing the same training — or a specific compliance requirement — in-house delivery can be a practical and efficient option, even for smaller teams.
Myth 2: “It’s more expensive than open courses”
While open courses work well for individual delegates, in-house training can be more cost-effective per person when training multiple team members at once. It also removes travel costs, accommodation, and time away from site.
Myth 3: “In-house training is harder to organise”
Many businesses assume in-house training means extra admin. In practice, the process is usually straightforward, with the training provider supporting scheduling, content planning, and delivery to fit your needs.
Myth 4: “The content is exactly the same as an open course”
In-house training allows content to be adapted to your processes, products, and risks, making it more relevant and immediately applicable for delegates.
Myth 5: “It’s only useful for basic training”
In-house courses aren’t limited to entry-level topics. They’re commonly used for advanced, specialist, and refresher training, as well as preparation for audits, certification, or organisational change.
