{"id":4354,"date":"2015-05-29T14:11:42","date_gmt":"2015-05-29T14:11:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vwa.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4354"},"modified":"2025-05-12T10:33:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T10:33:00","slug":"monthly-news-review-from-verner-wheelock-may-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vwa.co.uk\/blog\/monthly-news-review-from-verner-wheelock-may-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Monthly News Review from Verner Wheelock \u2013 May 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RSPH Winner for Verner Wheelock and Symington&#8217;s<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year three of our delegates won top student awards from the <strong>Royal Society for Public Health<\/strong>&nbsp;(RSPH) so we were really pleased to hear that another of our delegates had won an RSPH award this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sarah Jolly-Hart from Symington&#8217;s<\/strong> in Leeds has gained top marks in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vwa.co.uk\/food-safety\/level4-food-safety-hygiene-course.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Level 4 Award in Food Safety Management for Manufacturing<\/a> for her exam taken in 2014. She follows in the footsteps of her colleague, <strong>Lianne Davies<\/strong>, who won the same award the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a great achievement for Sarah, but also for Verner Wheelock and our trainers, as it shows that we offer a consistently high level of training leading to excellent results. It also reflects Symington&#8217;s commitment to staff training, ensuring that their technical and quality teams are trained to the highest level and&nbsp;demonstrating their understanding of food safety management issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award ceremony will take place in London later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delegates from Oman enjoy history and hospitality at Broughton<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We were delighted to welcome two delegates from the <strong>Royal Court Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman<\/strong> to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vwa.co.uk\/haccp\/Level-4-haccp-training-course.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Level 4 HACCP<\/a> course in May. &nbsp;Seen below receiving their certificates from Graham Lund are <strong>Saadallah Abdullah Hamed Al Hinai<\/strong> and <strong>Sheihka Al Shaqsi<\/strong> who joined a busy course&nbsp;in Skipton, and as well as the four days of training all delegates were invited for a rare tour of Broughton Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.vwa.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Oman1-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"Oman1\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/240;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.vwa.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Oman2-300x251.jpg\" alt=\"Oman2\" width=\"276\" height=\"231\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 276px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 276\/231;\">The Verner Wheelock offices and training centre are based in the picturesque grounds (the stable courtyard, to be precise) of this prestigious country house, and <strong>Wendy Bateson<\/strong> who has worked on the estate for a number of years and knows the history, treated the HACCP students to a guided tour. The tour included the dining room, drawing room, conservatory and the newly refurbished bedrooms. &nbsp;The delegates from Oman, who work in a catering environment, were particularly interested to see the kitchens! Our <strong>Business Development Executive, Graham<\/strong>, received a call from a customer on Friday 8th May who required a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vwa.co.uk\/blog\/which-haccp-course-should-i-take\/\">Level 2 Food Safety&nbsp;course<\/a> to be delivered the following Monday. &nbsp;After a quick ring round to see if any trainers were available, the course was booked!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jason spent the afternoon printing, collating and packing the course materials and arranged a courier to deliver them by 9am on the Monday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything went to plan with our trainer,&nbsp;<strong>Nigel Robertshaw<\/strong>, delivering the training, and the delegates were able to sit their exam prior to an imminent audit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><figure><span style=\"font-size: 1.76471rem; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Staff News<\/span><\/figure><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Happy Birthday to our Customer Relations Executive, Carole,<\/strong> who is celebrating her birthday this week with a holiday in Finland (see pic right).
