This unique, lab-based training course was held in the Food Technology facility at Ermysted’s Grammar School which provided the perfect setting for this hands-on course. Delivered through a combination of lectures and chemistry based practicals and tasting sessions, the course involved delegates worked in groups to produce a range of meat and cheese based flavours.

Alongside the packed teaching programme, the delegates enjoyed the best of Yorkshire hospitality while staying at The Tempest Arms at Elslack. They also tasted some of the best local food including fish and chips from Bizzie Lizzies (while on a canal boat trip), a curry at the Aagrah in Skipton and the official course dinner and wine tasting at the Devonshire Arms where menu choices included roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and traditional sticky toffee pud! A tile painting session at Coffee and Clay was used to stimulate the delegates creativity – an essential element in the flavour creation process

Course tutors, Dr David Baines and Richard Seal commented, “The new venue was superb and contributed to the success of this year’s course. Everything ran smoothly, thanks to Carole and the rest of the Verner Wheelock staff.
