VWA DELEGATES ADD INTERNATIONAL FLAVOUR

Skipton is host to delegates from as far away as Vietnam, Argentina and Russia this week. Twelve delegates have travelled to the area to take part in a specialist course run by food industry training company, Verner Wheelock Associates, based in Broughton Hall Business Park.

Creating Thermal Process Flavours is now in its fourth year and is the only course of its kind in the UK. Its highly specialised content is tailored specifically for those working with flavourings, seasonings, ready meals and savoury snacks.

The course is tutored by internationally-renowned flavourists Dr David Baines and Mr Richard Seal and regularly attracts delegates from some of the leading food and flavour companies throughout the world, including household names such as Mars and Nestle. This year, as well as the students from Vietnam, Russia and Argentina, there are also delegates from Germany, France, Italy and the UK.

Primarily laboratory-based on this course, the students have been making use of the facilities at nearby Malsis School.

Managing Director of VWA, Alison Wheelock, said “It’s fantastic that our ‘Creating Savoury Flavours’ course is so popular with companies from all around the world. As well as developing and analysing their own particular flavourings, delegates are encouraged to be creative and collaborate with each other in creating new flavours and sharing ideas. They have come to Yorkshire to learn, but also to enjoy the local food and the beautiful countryside.”

Our new ‘Introduction to Flavours’ course provides an introduction to both sweet and savoury flavourings and will run from 2-4 April 2012.
