You may be aware that Verner Wheelock is now an approved FDQ training centre, as well as still offering CIEH and RSPH qualifications. FDQ is a leading awarding organisation, which specialises in qualifications for the food and drink supply chain. Whilst they might not yet be as well-known as RSPH or CIEH they have been an awarding organisation for over 14 years and are regulated by Ofqual and the Welsh Government. Therefore they can offer QCF nationally recognised qualifications as well as approving non-accredited qualifications.
Why FDQ?
One of the main reasons why we have chosen to work with FDQ is because their approach to training is very similar to ours. FDQ stands for Food and Drink Qualifications so, like us, they are solely focused on the food and drink industry and are committed to providing qualifications and training which are vocational, relevant and innovative.
Similarly, like us, they listen to the food industry, identify skills gaps and work with partners like VWA to provide innovative solutions to training needs. These take the form of specialist training qualifications which are current and are designed to up-skill workforces or provide appropriate qualifications for those looking to enter the food and drink industry. This applies to all areas of the food supply chain, from agriculture through manufacturing, retail, catering and hospitality. Verner Wheelock FDQ approved Auditing courses
We are pleased to announce that we have had our suite of auditing courses approved by FDQ. Since their recent approved status, we have already seen a healthy take-up in candidates. So far we have trained over 100 learners on our Auditing Skills Certificate course and soon we will have trained 50 delegates on the Lead Auditor Certificate course. Both courses are available either as open courses based at our training centre at the picturesque Broughton Hall Business Park in Skipton, the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales; or as in-house courses.
FDQ Auditing Skills Certificate
The Auditing Skills Certificate course is one of our most popular, giving trainees the skills and confidence to undertake their own internal audits within food manufacturing environments. It is highly interactive and prepares delegates for audits by third parties such as BRC or the major retailers.
FDQ Lead Auditor Certificate
Designed primarily for supervisors, managers and auditors with some practical experience of working in Quality Assurance, Food safety or HACCP teams, Health & Safety, Environmental Management of Ethical & Social Auditing in the food or other related industry, this programme is specifically designed for those required to audit a complete management system and manage an audit team. Supplier Auditing Certificate
This one-day course focuses on how to carry out audits on new and current suppliers. It includes all steps of the audit process from audit scheduling through to reporting and also explains the cost benefits of auditing suppliers, as well as other important elements. NEW Health & Safety qualifications designed for the food and drink industry
Up until now, we have not offered actively promoted Health & Safety qualifications as we focus on providing courses specifically designed for the food industry. However now that FDQ have introduced a range of H&S courses for the food supply chain we are offering FDQ’s Level 2 and Level 3 courses ‘Health & Safety in the Food Supply Chain Business.’
These courses have been designed specifically to highlight health and safety issues within the food industry and so are ideal for VWA customers. Initially these courses will be offered in-house at client’s premises so please contact us for a quote on 01756 700802.
