Back to work, everyone!
Well, after a long summer, it felt like we were all ‘Back to School’ again this month. We don’t run courses in August, as most people are away on holiday, so it was nice to have the office and training room busy and full of people again now it’s September
In September we have had courses every day bar two – and one of those was the MacMillan Coffee Morning. We’ve welcomed delegates on to Level 3 HACCP, Auditing Skills, Supplier Auditing, Level 4 Food Safety, Level 4 HACCP, VACCP, TACCP, Level 4 Food Safety Update and Auditing Refresher courses – Phew!
October is just as busy, with back-to-back courses. The last week of the month, as usual is devoted to our unique Creating Thermal Process Flavours course, which has attracted delegates from The Netherlands, Spain, Germany and France.
Farewell, Ruth
It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to one of our most experienced and popular trainers this week. Ruth Bell has worked with Verner Wheelock for the past 18 years, and during that time has helped hundreds of delegates to achieve qualifications in HACCP, Food Safety and Auditing. She has also developed and delivered several specialist courses for us – notably TACCP, VACCP and Root Cause Analysis.
Ruth has decided to retire from training in order to concentrate on her other role as a professional auditor. I’m sure those of you who had the privilege of being tutored by Ruth would like to join us in wishing her all the very best. Thank you, Ruth, for all your hard work and dedication – you will be missed by us all!
So long, Karen
We also said farewell to one of our Sales Executives, the lovely Karen Naylor, in August. Karen joined us in November and proved to have an excellent rapport with customers old and new. She has now begun work at a large packaging company in Manchester, where we’re sure she’ll do equally well. A keen runner, she recently completed the Great North Run in aid of Diabetes UK.
Hello again, Rachel
Some of you may have noticed that our Sales Administrator, Rachel, was absent for quite a few months this year.
That’s because she left Verner Wheelock to go to a marketing agency in Leeds. However, she missed us so much that she has come back again. “I just prefer it here – it’s such a lovely place to work and the scenery is outstanding.” She said. “I’m so glad Alison said I could come back!”
New arrival
The Broughton Hall Estate, where Verner Wheelock is based, is a truly beautiful location and a great place to train. We’re very lucky to be surrounded by amazing countryside and wildlife – including the latest addition – an extremely cute and fuzzy baby peacock. If you attend one of our courses you’ll most likely see the little one with its proud mother, Priscilla, strutting around the walled garden when you visit Utopia for your lunch.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who joined us for our coffee morning on 30th September. We managed to raise an impressive £202 for Macmillan Cancer Care. Once again the ‘Star Baker’ award went to Jason. This year he made some delicious (but I suspect, highly calorific) Oreo chocolate brownies. Diet? What diet?
Gearing up for the New Year
We have now started taking bookings for our 2017 courses. These kick off on 9th January with Level 4 HACCP and Level 4 Food Safety. The new course calendar will be available on the website soon, but if you get in touch with Claire, she will be able to tell you the dates for the courses you’re interested in.
Plus – we will hold this year’s prices for all 2017 courses booked before 31st December 2016
