Restaurant Review 2 – Le Caveau, Skipton #restaurantreviews

“A hidden gem!”

Scallops with bacon

Le Caveau is situated down a flight of stone steps below the Edinburgh Woollen Mill on Skipton High Street. For some reason none of us had been to this popular French restaurant before, despite its good reputation over many years.

After a drink in the bar area while studying the menus and blackboard choices we were ushered to our table for starters including scallops with bacon, garlic mushrooms with stilton to name just two choices.

The main courses chosen included chicken supreme, salmon and prawns wrapped in filo pastry with thai vegetables and a lime and ginger sauce, Gressingham duck breast with a port and cherry sauce, salmon with pui lentils. these were served with a range seasonal vegetables and we especially liked the grated carrot and swede with cream and nutmeg.

Strawberry Tian

How could we resist the dessert menu? We couldn’t! Tempted by brioche bread a butter pudding with Baileys, lemon and lime cheesecake, strawberry tian and sticky toffee pudding with cinder toffee ice cream! Everything is handmade onsite and the home made ice cream was to die for!

All in all, it was an excellent meal and we hope to return in the near future to try more treats from the menu!
