Welcome to the September 2015 news review from Verner Wheelock
As always, the ‘new term’ in September has meant that we’ve been extremely busy taking bookings for the remainder of our 2015 courses.
We’ve already got several bookings for January, including our first in-house course booking for 2016. It just shows how popular our trainers are, so if you’re planning any training at your own site over teh next few months, it’s really worth getting in touch sooner rather than later!
Our dates for Open courses in Skipton for the first few months of 2016 are now available here.
Our delegates have received some excellent results in RSPH exams recently with the following achieving Distinctions:
RSPH Level 4 Award in HACCP for Food Manufacturing
Emily Claydon – Bettys & Taylors
RSPH Level 4 Award in Food Safety Management
Joanna Core – New Ivory
Jimmy Kirk – Farmers Boy (Morrisons plc)

Well done to Jason Kearton from the Training Support Team on achieving a score of 19/20 following his recent attendance on the FDQ Auditing Skills course. Jason is usually more familiar with organising the course materials for a wide range of courses but found the interactive elements of the Auditing course really interesting and beneficial.
Latest news on the staff front is that Rachel Coote who joined the company on a temporary basis as Sales Administrator earlier this year is now a permanent member of staff, supporting the Business Development team on a part-time basis.
Sadly, Business Development Executive, Graham Lund, has now left the business. Carole Dickason is still available to take your calls and we are currently recruiting a replacement for Graham, so watch this space!
We held a Macmillan Coffee Morning in out training room on Friday 25th September and it was great to see lots of people from the Broughton Estate as well as friends and family getting involved. With plates piled high with goodies the most common comment was, “They’re not all for me. I’m taking these back for the guys in the office – honest!”
Everyone baked their own ‘signature dishes and show stoppers’ including Strawberry & Vanilla Buns, Chocolate Cupcakes and Peanut Butter Blondies (Jodie), Nutella Delight (Jason), Lemon and Sultana Buns (Carole), Chocolate Raisin Fridge Cake (Rachel) and we had an amazing spread of cakes on offer and raised over £200 for Macmillan Cancer Care.
The first of our Training the Trainer Refresher courses took place in September led by Judith Sunderland. The delegates, who were all experienced trainers, found themselves on the opposite side of the desk for a day while they refreshed their training skills and were introduced to the latest training techniques and equipment.
For anyone who is interested in attending our Creating Savoury Flavours course in October we just have a few places left. Read more about the benefits of attending this course here.
