Monthly Update from VWA – November 2013 #monthlyupdate

Welcome to our November update – keeping you informed of all the latest news from Verner Wheelock Associates

November Training Courses

Open Courses

We delivered RSPH Level 2, 3 and Level 4 HACCP courses to delegates from a wide range of food and drink processing companies, and we were delighted to welcome Lynn Patterson back to Skipton to cover the last day of the Level 4 HACCP course for Ruth Bell. Former VWA trainer Lynn now runs her own leading food safety and HACCP training consultancy in Northern Ireland and it was great to catch up with her and discuss the latest developments in training for the food industry.

All three of our popular range of auditing courses also took place. The Auditing Skills and Lead Auditor courses are now approved by awarding body FDQ and lead to an FDQ Certificate, and we are aiming to get our Supplier Auditing course approved in 2014.

In-house

We were extremely busy during November running in-house HACCP and Food Safety courses for a number of leading bakeries including Hovis, Jacksons Bakery and Warburtons, while Auditing Skills courses proved to be popular with the dairy sector.

Bookings are already being taken for 2014 so to secure your preferred dates for in-house training contact us as soon as possible. As well as accredited training course we can also offer bespoke courses to meet your exact requirements including GMP or Root Cause Analysis, for example.

Ethical Audits

Don’t forget, if you are a medium risk supplier, the major retailers will expect you to have an ethical audit every two years. We are already getting bookings well into 2014. Please contact us for a quote if you are planning an audit during 2014.

For anyone who would like to know about the SMETA Ethical Audit process we are running a 1-day Ethical Trading Workshop on 24th March in Skipton. For more information or to book, please contact Claire on 01756 700802 or email claire.lennon@vwa.co.uk

Staff News

All the ladies in the VWA office are huge fans of the BBC TV show Strictly Come Dancing. Every year we run a sweepstake to guess which celebrity’s wonderful waltz or terrific tango will win them the coveted glitter ball trophy. This year, however, we’ve noticed that one member of staff from VWA bears a strong resemblance to one of the dancing celebrities. Don’t you agree?
