We’re here to help you ensure that your personnel are fully trained and qualified to perform their roles effectively, whatever sector of the food industry you are involved in. We can provide training for all staff, from operatives to senior management.
We specialise in providing training to the food industry so all our trainers are experts in their field and provide high quality training – leading to excellent results and pass rates every time!
Research shows that investment in training can result in increased productivity, profits, motivation and higher customer satisfaction – altogether a strong business case.
Investment in your team Investing in training is a good way to:
Did you know that by law, all food handlers should receive some form of basic training or instruction in food safety? This may form part of your induction programme and also needs to be refreshed regularly to ensure that food handlers are producing food that is safe to eat. We can offer an Online Level 2 Food Safety course that provides flexible, cost effective training with a full online training record – it’s even available with a Polish voice over.
But before you make a decision to develop and improve your team, there are some important factors to consider.
From the beginning, you need to make the crucial decision of whether to bring in a trainer from outside, or develop your own in-house training programme. There are advantages and disadvantages to both of these options, but primarily, your decision will be dictated by your budget, staff turnover and the number of staff you need to train.
If you only have one or two people to train at a certain level the best option is for them to attend one of our open courses in Skipton. We attract delegates from all sectors of the food industry which leads to plenty of sharing of ideas and experience, which adds to the learning process. Another advantage of off-site training is that it will give your team the chance to learn in a different environment - a change of scenery can often be more stimulating – and what better place to be than the relaxing setting of Broughton Hall in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
If you have 6 or more members of staff who require training we can also run courses at your own premises or at a location to suit you. Training courses conducted in this way will
You can also choose when in-house training is undertaken, so disruption to business is minimised. For example rather than staff being out of the business for 3 days in one week, you may decide to run a course every Monday for 3 weeks. We can even run courses to accommodate shift patterns – including the night shift.
If your business is highly specialised, or you need a training course with content relating specifically to your business, or branded in your own corporate style, we can tailor any of our courses to meet your requirements. These training programmes can be delivered by VWA trainers or we can train your staff to deliver the training on an ongoing basis. We are also developing online training – all of which can be tailored to your specific requirements.
Did you know that holders of a recognised Level 4 Food Safety qualification can teach Level 2 Food Safety to other members of staff? If they also hold the CIEH Professional Trainers Certificate your company can become a registered training centre with the RSPH or CIEH and can provide training for recognised qualifications. Those who hold this training qualification will also have learnt the skills necessary to delivery other internal training such as induction, health & safety etc.
Whatever your training needs, we’re here to help you. Contact Helen Moore on 01756 700802 to discuss your requirements – whether you have 1 person or 100 people who need training we are happy to advise you on the best options.
What type of training does your business need?
Identifying where you need to make improvements, or strengthen abilities is an important step to take before investing in developing your team. By discussing training with individual employees you will establish specific skills gaps and training requirements. This will also help you get internal buy-in from all your team members.
Consider the different skills and subject areas required in the food industry –
Food Safety, HACCP, Auditing and Nutrition. A more in-depth approach to identifying training objectives is achieved through undertaking a Training Needs Analysis.
This tailored approach identifies the gaps between the skills your business needs and those your employees have. It is important to always think about what you are trying to achieve for your business in the longer term.
We can help you identify your training needs and provide a solution.
