ALLERGY TRAINING PACK WINS AWARD

Allergytraining.com accepted the prestigious ‘Best New Product’ award at the annual Society of Food Hygiene and Technology luncheon on November 16th in London.  The award, which is sponsored by Sainsbury’s Supermarkets, was presented by SOFHT Chairman, Simon Houghton-Dodd and accepted by leading food allergy expert Hazel Gowland and food safety expert consultant and trainer, Dr Lisa Ackerley.

Allergytraining.com is a partnership which includes Hazel Gowland of Allergy Action, Dr Lisa Ackerley of Hygiene Audit Systems, and Dr Ian Leitch of Allergyaudit.org whose joint expertise and experience in food allergy risks and controls, and understanding of implementing effective food safety systems and workplace learning led to the production of this innovative training pack.

The training pack with DVD is a valuable tool for any food handler.  It includes a 23 minute DVD in two parts – a 17 minute training film which outlines many common food allergy risks and how they can be controlled, together with a 6 minute film review of key learning points.  Five students’ cards with a short multiple choice assessment and tutors notes complete the pack.

To add to the success, the Training Pack has also been supported by the RIPH.
“The material meets the requirements for allergy awareness training material and could also support qualifications such as the RIPH’s Foundation Food Hygiene or Level 2 Award in Food Safety Catering syllabi".
