Diploma in Sports Nutrition

Course Summary

Two day course certificated by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH).

This course is designed to provide an in depth knowledge of the practical application of diet and healthy eating in sport for managers working in the health promotion, sport, leisure, hospitality and health & beauty industries.

Entry Requirements

All candidates must have already successfully completed the RSPH/RIPH Diploma in Nutrition & Health (Nutrition & Health in the Community) and they can then go on to complete the Sport & Leisure specialist Paper 2 to receive a second Diploma qualification.

  • Fluid intake
  • Effect of diet on sports performance
  • The need for vitamins and minerals in the diet of the athlete
  • Nutritional requirements for children
  • Lifestyle interview
  • Vegetarian sportsmen/women
  • Diabetics
  • Ergogenic aids

Assessment

One exam only, covering the Sports & Leisure option of section 2 of the course syllabus. 

The assessment for the award of the Diploma is as follows:
Paper 2 - Specialist paper - Nutrition & Health for Sports & Leisure (2 hours)

Grades will be awarded as follows:
Honours 160 to 200 marks
Credit 140 to 159 marks
Pass 120 to 139 marks
Fail - 0 to 119 marks
